Tablet to laptop "no data found" issue

Hi!

I have recently begun using a new Samsung tablet for Cybertracker, and I am having an issue where it seems to connect to the laptop (it charges) but it does not find the data. The data is definitely there on the tablet, and I click to download data from USB but it says “no data found”. Someone else was using the tablet before me with a different database which has since been deleted and they did not have this issue. My only thought was if it could be due to different Cybertracker versions on the tablet (version 604) and laptop (v.3.535), as I had to delete Cybertracker and redownload it when I took over the tablet. I don’t want to update the version on the laptop, however, because this was done on another laptop and the tracks seemed to be uploading incorrectly, as a few points rather than a continuous track. It is the same database on both the tablet and laptop.

Thanks!

Hi Emily,

If you upload to 607, then you will see a button next to your project when data is available for export. Clicking on that lets you export it so that it can be read via USB.

In general the preferred way to get data off is by using the Publish mechanism. USB is always going to be trouble…

Hi Justin!

Thanks for your reply! I see, I have not used the publish feature before and it seemed to work so I will use that going forward. Sometimes I am needing to do data entry without wifi, however, can I use the publish feature without wifi?

Thanks!

Hi Emily,

Publish requires that you have a network connection to upload the data. You can still collect data offline of course, but eventually that is the way to get it off.

It will work if you have cellular as well as WiFi.

Hi Emily,

Maybe a silly suggestion that you’ve tried already, but are you sure your settings on your Samsung tablet are set to “File transfer”? If you plug it in initially with USB it will be set to charging only, and CyberTracker will not be able to access the data on the tablet.

Cheers,
