Not copying to SD card

Hi All,

I have two Samsung phones, an A11 & A20, both running Android 11 and using the same CT application.

The A11 is working fine & copies the application files to the SD card.

The A20 does not copy the application files to the SD card. The file path on the A20 SD card stops at SD Card > Android > data & the data folder is empty.

I am able to read/write other files to the SD card to prove that it is working OK.

Any assistance would be much appreciated.

Cheers,

Graeme

Hi Graeme,

Although the SD card also has an “Android\data” folder, this is not where the external data folder for the app lives. There are settings which enable apps to be installed on the SD card, do you have that configured?

CyberTracker Desktop will only install to a folder if it sees the “Android\data\org.cybertracker.mobile.ct\files\cybertracker” folder.

I have not done a lot of testing with different devices when they have SD cards active. My Samsung S8 does and it works…

Thanks Justin,

I have discovered that CT is mirroring the CT files to SD Card / Android / data / org.cybertracker.mobile.ct / files / cybertrackerdata. This is also where the backup CTX files are sent.

The issue is files in the SD Card / Android / data folder on the A20 are not visible. Remove the SD card from the phone and put it into a PC and the mirrored files are there.

I do not have apps installed on the SD card.

Graeme

Hi Graeme,

The file system that Android presents to the PC is heavily cached (by Android). Sometimes you might need to unplug the USB and then plug it back in to see all the files. I verified that CyberTracker is requesting a media scan when making changes to those files, but it could be that there are some other things I can do. Let me know if the unplug/replug trick works.

Thanks Justin, the unplug/replug didn’t work. No matter what I try the only way I can see the files is to remove the SD card put it into a PC.

Hi Justin,

Would it be possible to save the backup CTX files to an accessible location on the SD card? i.e. not Android / data

Cheers,

Graeme
