New feature: sharing CSV files

Hi folks,

I would like some feedback on a new feature (in build 3.528 desktop, 440+ mobile):

Normally once data is sent to the server it is deleted from the device. However, for community projects, people want to retain their own captured data in a format they can read. The new feature will create a CSV of all collected data which can be shared. Check out the video:

We are also moving the videos onto a YouTube channel:

Hi Justin,

2 effects:

  1. directly after Update and collecting one sighting, the share says “no data”, but transfer (I use publish) is working. The next sighting is working in share and transfer as expected. I’ve tested it twice.
  2. after sucessfully transfer and push “share” the function runs and don’t show “no data”, but the share table is empty, locically becaus transfer is deleting data.

Hi Holger,

Could you send me a CTX? It is important that you put the share button on the first screen that people see. Otherwise it will not trigger.

Thanks Justin,

on start screen it makes no sense, because of the loop it will not reached again normally. And I do not understand the logic behind.

  1. Collecting sightings
  2. Share sightings → for others to take part
  3. Transfer sightings (+ delete in device)
  4. Download from Server → for me to make analysis on my own PC

In my use case the sharing is necessary for all sightings of the whole daily session. May be I cannot use the function, because the handling of photos is too difficult for the teammates.

Hi Holger,

The reason you need to put a share button on the first screen is so that it enables saving the sighting data to an alternate location. So you could put it on the first screen and hide it and then have it later as well.

It sounds like this feature is not something you need.
