Hi folks,
We are planning to update the iOS version to match the Android version in the coming week.
The main restriction is that it requires iOS 16 and above. Our telemetry indicates that there are a couple of people who will be broken by this change. If you are one of those people, please let me know and we will see what can be done.
Thanks!
Hey Justin,
I’m running a citizen science project in the UK, and a couple of our participants are using iPhones with iOS 15.
Can anything be done to make it work on the older iOS versions?
Many thanks,
Luke
That’s a bummer. Apple makes it hard to support older devices (from a development point of view).
Perhaps we can make a fund available to help people upgrade very old devices. This will actually be cheaper than doing the work required to maintain multiple versions of the software. Ping me directly if this is an option (justin@cybertracker.org).
Hi Justin,
My iOS is above 16 but still cant scan the project QR Code. Please advise.
Could you please say more about what is happening? Does the app launch? When you press the “Scan” button, does the camera start? When you point it at a QR code, does the app provide an error?
Thanks!
Hi Justin,
The application launches successfully; however, when I initiate the scanning process and point the camera at a QR code, the interface unexpectedly disappears.
Thanks.
Thanks, which QR code are you scanning? Are you on iOS?
1.Im scanning the QR code of my project, generated from Publish Application option.
2.Yes, im on iOS.
3. Interestingly, my colleagues (on iOS) are able to scan the same QR code without any issues.
Is this because of device-specific or related to the iOS environment?
Could you please send me a bug report? It is off the Settings page near the bottom…
Hi Justin, i browsed through all the related topics and found that i have same issue with our friends Gwen here. (refer to image)
I tried, and im not sure if its submitted because after i click the tick button, the app crashed.
Gwen’s issue was resolved.
Could you also confirm that you have plenty of storage space available?
Thanks!
I will check and come back to you again. Thanks.
The storage is available (30 gb free). For your information, i downloaded the 1.0.557 CyberTracker version in my phone.
Very strange then. Hate to do this, but could you try uninstalling and reinstalling CyberTracker? Maybe reboot the phone while you are at it?
Really could use a bug report. Could you see if it always crashes when you try to send it via email?
Thanks!
