GPS timer points not recording in background

Good day

I need some assistance please. I have set up an app to record data at the reserve that I am working and have set up the GPS timer points to track the rangers’ patrols. It works great as long as the app is open on the phone but as soon as you lock the screen it does not keep recording in the background. The phone I’m using is a Honor X6c but I have also tried it on an Oppo with the same result.

Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.

Hi Jandre,

Could you confirm that you are using the CyberTracker version from the Google Play Store?

I am not aware of this on any other device, so perhaps there are settings that allow background apps to work properly. I am looking on eBay to see if I can source a device. Do you know the Oppo model number?

It would be great if you could send me a bug report (at the bottom of the Settings page). I might be able to figure out something sooner…

Thanks!

Hi Justin,

Thank you for the reply.

The Oppo is a A78 CPH2483

I have made sure that every setting is set to allow for backgroud location and for CT to be running in the background. It also gives me the notification that CT is accessing location in the background. Really not sure what else it could possibly be.

Thanks I will send the bug report.

Also, it is CyberTracker that I downloaded from Google Play Store.

Hi Justin,

Do you have any idea what the problem could be?

I updated the phone again and checked all the settings that could block CT from accessing location in the background.

Unfortunately no luck.

We did just find an issue whereby if the device crosses a time-zone boundary then the track might get lost. The fix is in build 583 which should be available in the next day or so. Could you please try that?

Thank you, I tried it but the tracks are still not recording when the screen is locked.

This is an expensive phone for me to purchase. I will keep looking for causes. Otherwise, if you are in the US and send it to me, I will send it back as soon as I have diagnosed the issue.
