Hi,
Within the next month, I have a team who are going to be working in a remote location with no access to a PC for 4 weeks. As they are going to be in a remote area for a prolonged period of time, I want to ensure that the data they collect can be backed up in multiple places. Therefore, I want to use the “use SD card for data backup” system function. However, after testing this in the field today, there are no CTX files anywhere within the org.cybertracker.mobile.ct folder saved on the SD card, only the DAT, XML and TXT files for the project. There are also no CTX files in the default CyberTracker folder on the actual device, but downloading from the device onto a PC does work.
Any idea on why the CTX files are not being stored on the SD card as they should be? I am using CyberTracker v3.517 on a Samsung Galaxy A5. I would really appreciate any help with this.
Thanks,
Melissa
Can you look here? → . SD Card …\Android\data\com.cybertracker.client\files\cybertrackerdata*.CTX
Hi there,
I dont have a com.cybertracker.client folder, only a org.cybertracker.mobile.ct folder, but nothing comes up when searching for cybertrackerdata*.CTX in there.
Thanks,
Melissa
On the store version, replace “com.cybertracker.client” with “org.cybertracker.mobile.ct”.
Cheers,
-Justin
Hi Justin,
Thanks for your help with this.
Where about in the store version am I able to replace “com.cybertracker.client” with “org.cybertracker.mobile.ct”? The version.txt file of the cybertracker has a line for storage, which does go to the wrong file location, is this where I need to change it?
Thanks,
Melissa
Sorry, that was not very clear.
The backup location on the device is here:
\SD Card\Android\data\org.cybertracker.mobile.ct\files\cybertrackerdata*.CTX
Cheers,
-Justin
Thanks for the clarification Justin.
I have been looking in that location (\Android\data\org.cybertracker.mobile.ct\files\cybertrackerdata), but there are no CTX files there, only DAT, TXT and XML files. When explicitly searching for \Android\data\org.cybertracker.mobile.ct\files\cybertrackerdata*.CTX on my SD card it says that this location does not exist.
I really appreciate your help with this.
Thanks,
Melissa
Hi Melissa,
Have you saved a sighting from a CyberTracker app that had the “Use SD card for data backup” enabled?
Cheers,
-Justin
Yes, the “Use SD card for data backup” option is enabled and I have saved several sightings.
Thanks,
Melissa
Ah, apologies, the backup is not in CTX format, so this is correct.
If you need to recover the backup files, copy them to the phones cybertracker folder and then run an import from the desktop.
Cheers,
-Justin
I see, sorry about that, I thought that backup was saved as a CTX file on the SD card (e.g https://groups.google.com/g/cybertrackerwiki/c/e6mpanvDTLc).
In that case, it seems there is no way of getting the CTX files directly off of the device? Is that correct? My team will have android tablets with them in addition to the mobile devices they will be using to collect data. As there is, unfortunately, no capability to download the data directly onto tablets I was hoping they could just transfer the CTX files each day.
Thanks,
Melissa
Hi Justin,
I figured out how to get the CTX files saved in the backup location. For anyone else that’s interested, I went into database properties, and under the transfer tab, selected backup(CTX) as the protocol. After sending data on the device, the CTX files are now located in my SD card folder.
Thanks so much for your help.
Melissa
Hi all,
We are using cybertracker for a long time in several different devices. Recently we are facing a problem on trying to run the app stored in the play store using a Asus Zenpad S 8.0. When trying to run the app, a failure message cames up indicating “Cybertracker failled to start”. I already reinstall the app, all other apps and main software is up-to-date. Finally, last try included to restore to yhr factory settings, update all apps and software and the failure message keeps coming up. Any suggestion? We use to run the desktop based app in this same device and it was working fine.

Hi all,
Any help on this is very welcome.

Hi Nuno,
Is this problem only with the store versions? Or does the old APK version work?
I pushed out a release over the weekend – build 389. Could you please see if you have the same issue with it?
Cheers,
-Justin
Hi Justin,
It used to work fine with the old apk version. Two days ago I tryed to another tablet asus zenpad and faced the same issue. I will try later today or tomorrow with this new version 389. Let you know later if it is working. Great thanks.

Sorry, no idea. If you send me one of the broken devices, I will take a look.
What do you mean with send? Could you connect to it via teamviewer or any other similar software?
Best,
Nuno
