Android Backup

We have updated to CT v3.516 but are unable to get the Backup function to work. The system does not create a com.cybertyracker.client folder on the SD card or the internal storage. Is there something that has changed with the Backup on this version?

Cheers,

Graeme

Hi Graeme,

The new app has a different path: org.cybertracker.mobile.

However, the right way to access the backups is by looking for the “cybertracker” folder at the root of the device. Are you seeing that?

Thanks Justin. Yes, I can see the CyberTracker folder in the root directory & in that folder is a Backup folder but there are no files being written to it.

Is the ‘Send data’ tab on the options page still operational? The arrow is solid black & ‘Ready’ appears below it. When the arrow is tapped it remains solid black and ‘Ready’ changes to ‘Completed’ but no files appear to be transferred.

We commissioned the backup function when we had a couple of phones that did a spontaneous factory reset and all monitoring data was lost. The backup has worked well in the past and was used occasionally.

Graeme

Hi Graeme,

Could you please try build 360 which is current on the Play Store?

In this build, the arrow should change to empty and backups should be written to the “cybertracker/Backup” folder.

Thanks Justin, The backup feature now works but there are still a couple of issues.

In the Database Properties, Transfer tab, I have set the Auto send frequency to 60 secs but that feature does not seem to work. The data is only sent to the backup folder when the ‘Send data’ arrow is tapped and the arrow changes to empty. We would like the backup feature to be automatic, as in previous versions.

We would prefer the Backup files to be saved to the SD card. When our phones did the unscheduled reset, all data on the phones internal memory was lost.

Cheers,

Graeme

Hi folks,

The latest Android version (378) on the Play Store includes the old backup feature. Note that the backup folder on the SD card will contain “org.cybertracker.mobile.ct”, rather than “com.cybertracker.client”.

Hi Justin,

Thanks for that but I am not able to get the backup to function and there are other issues.

We are using Samsung A11 & A21s phones and have installed CT v1.0.378 from the Play Store. The phone software is up to date.

Our CT file downloads from the PC OK and appears to function as normal on the phone.

Uploading to the PC appears to function OK but there are no photos within the data.

In the ‘Internal Storage/CyberTracker/Media’ there are no files.

In the ‘Internal Storage/CyberTracker/Backup’ there are no files.

There is no backup folder on the SD card.

Cheers,

Graeme

Hi Graeme,

I am checking out the missing photo issue.

The backups are kept here:

SDCard/Android/data/org.cybertracker.mobile.ct/files/cybertrackerdata

This is the same location as the previous version.

Thanks Justin. The only folder in SDCard/Android/data is com.sec.android.app.myfiles.

I have tried reinstalling the CT app but that hasn’t helped. Our phones are running Android 11.

Graeme

Hi Justin,

It appears the phone is not reading the SD card correctly. Remove the SD card from the phone and put it in a PC and the file path you indicated is there but in the phone it can’t be seen.

We have a few phones doing the exactly the same thing. Any ideas?

Cheers,

Graeme

Hi Graeme,

I have ordered an Android 11 phone. I have heard there are changes to the way external storage works.

I pushed out a new build (379) last night which includes the fix for the missing images in your scenario. I will let you know what I find when the Android 11 phone arrives.

Many thanks Justin, build 379 looks like it has fixed the missing images issue.

Hi Justin,

Build 381 has solved most of the issues I had with Samsung A11 & A21s. The auto backup works OK but I will need to play around with it for a bit longer. The ‘Export View’ function works OK and the photos are extracted to the ‘Export Media’ folder on the desktop.

The ‘Reset to start screen after sync’ does not function. After performing a ‘Download Data’ the sightings remain on the phone.

FYI - I not a couple of differences to the older version (<v3.515):

The folders on the SD card at ‘SD Card/Android/data’ cannot be seen using ‘My Files’ on the phone but they can been seen & accessed using ‘File Explorer’ on the PC.

In the older version, every time a waypoint is saved the GPS screen goes straight into Detecting mode. In the newer version on a A11 & A21s the first time a waypoint is saved the GPS screen indicates ‘Detecting’ but the next waypoint save the GPS screen indicates ‘Off’, however the screen eventually goes to ‘3D GPS’ & the waypoint is saved.

The photos taken using CT are saved in the ‘Media’ folder at ‘SDcard/Android/data/org.cybertracker.mobile.ct/files/cybertrackerdata/Media’ and not the Media folder in the phone internal storage as is the case with the older versions.

Many thanks once again for your assistance.

Cheers,

Graeme

Hi Justin,

I am following up to see when you might have a chance to have a look at the ‘Reset to start screen after sync’ issue, as outlined below.

Our monitoring season is upon us and a fix to this issue would solve our problem.

Cheers & thanks,

Graeme

Grame, sorry, would it be possible to make one thread with only one issue? It is not so terrible, but the for labeling and the search of a special issue it is little better.
Cheers Holger
